The Chamber was founded in 1912 with one goal in mind: to secure new industries, to enhance and develop industries already here, and to promote and develop the resources of the town and surrounding vicinities. By 1920, 125 businessmen were active members of the Chamber of Commerce. In 1995 the name of the Chamber changed from the Rumford Chamber of Commerce to the River Valley Chamber of Commerce to represent ten towns: Andover, Byron, Canton, Carthage, Dixfield, Hanover, Mexico, Peru, Roxbury, and Rumford.

We are nestled in the mountains of Western Maine where we pride ourselves in being a four-season destination. With our ten-town community area, you will find many interesting shops, places of interest as well as historic sites, beautiful lakes and mountains and small town country charm and hospitality. The River Valley area is a great place to live, work and play. Whether you are planning on passing through or sitting a spell we hope that you will make us your future vacation destination!
