My name is Joan Wood and I
have a new business called the Gentle Dove Massage Studio on 679 River Road in
Mexico Maine. I have been a LMT (Licensed Massage Therapist) since October 23,
2006. I do Swedish massage, Hot Stone massage, and Therapeutic massage. People
come to me when they need to relax or when they have a problem with their
muscles. Swedish massage is one full hour of being pampered and a great way to
relax. I also do Hot Stone massage, which warms the body to the core and
relaxes you. Therapeutic massage is a much more intense and deep massage with
range of motion and stretches.
I am also a Reiki practitioner. Reiki
is a Japanese technique for helping with stress reduction and relaxation and
helps to promote healing. Reiki is based on the ideal that an unseen “life
force energy” flows through us and causes us to be alive. I believe in a higher
Power that guides us and helps us. This is where the healing comes from. I am
only the vessel it flows through. I am a Minister from the non-denominational
Universal Life Church and believe that you have the right to believe whatever
you want to, as long as it is for the good of the world around us and every
living creature in it.
My father is Native American so I
have strong roots in the Native American ways. This is how I have the name
Gentle Dove; it is the name my father gave me as my Indian name. I was taught
to listen and learn. I love working with older people and believe that we must
care for our elderly, they are wise and teach us the ways of the world and that
is the way that life should be.
I shall be running a special for
Valentine‘s Day, starting now through February 23rd a Swedish
one-hour massage will be only $40. I have Gift Certificates available here at
